Asante Kotoko dealt huge blow in Aristide Bancé chase

Asante Kotoko fans’ hopes of seeing Aristide Bancé lining up for their side have been dealt a blow after Al Masry chairman Samir Mehleba insisted the player is not for sale.

Ahead of the Africa campaign next season, the Porcupine Warriors were looking forward to strengthening their team by signing the Burkinabe hitman.

Reports in Egypt, however, claim that Egyptian club Al Masry have will not let go the 33-year-old striker after a long meeting between the two sides.

Mehleba said: “Al Masry wants the player, we have no intention of letting him go during the winter transfer window.”

Bancé featured and scored as Al Masry shattered Tanta 6-3 on Thursday in the Egyptian Premier League.

He won silver with his country at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa and also helped the Stallion win bronze at the 2017 Nations Cup in Gabon where they defeated Ghana in the third-place match.

Bancé is best remembered for an equalizer he scored against the Black Stars in the semi-finals at the 2013 Cup of Nations tournament.
